Day One in the car = A Kia Sedona

So after a little dilemma or two with UPS (misinformation and a scheduled pick up that wasn’t scheduled) we managed to get on the road at 3:30pm.

So far we’ve covered New Jersey Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and stopped in Harrisonburg Virginia for the night – covering 370 miles. Cheap smokers hotel rooms. :-(

Along the way we saw two oversized crosses, one that was made of steel and was lit by changing colours, and another set of illuminated white crosses, sending light into the sky.

Beverley had a Baptism of rain with her first driving experience since passing her test...torrential downpours and traffic jams on the freeway...and driving at night....all in one day!

Jamie, Charis and Beverley came up with an analogy, the road trip is not that different from work really, you are still sitting down for at least eight hours a day....the car is the company, the GPS/ Sat Nav is your boss, and the road/route the company’s business plan.

We discovered that Love’s is a convenience store and that Arby’s does a pretty tasty menu for dinner... Managed to end up at the rest stop with a coach load of people, Jamie then noticed on the news they were ‘Tea Partiers’ heading to Washington, DC to protest the healthcare bill.
Rowena had a sore arse from sitting down, Jamie said Charis smells. Luke shrieked prompted by Jamie raising his voice telling Beverley to slow down faster.

Jamie was hungry.

Charis ate the chicken leg – not road kill.

We all feel it’s just a long weekend and we’ll be heading back to Jersey soon enough, it’s not kicked in yet that this is it for 30 days.

8.52pm the wipers were finally switched off.
